The last minute of the song is "The Way Home", the ending tune. I don't know what the rest of it is.

Shows where all the arrangements came from.

@ tackle: personally I would've preffered the vocals to have been mixed better in Ball of Ballos, it's like you were tryin to bury them on purpose rather than having people givin out to you cause they're about suicide n shit hehe. One thing I'm guilty of, or used to be anyway, was, if I had a shit vocal line - I'm not a great vocalist by any means - I would bury them under the music and add effects etc to make em sound not so crap. Usually this turned out worse than jsut putting vocals where they should be, up front n centre. The rest of your track was solid though, I liked it.

Grass Stains was a fun track. Still not a great fan of the lead guitar tone, but meh, thats me, nice mix of the old square synth and a nice rock arrangement.

@ Fezik: I still didn't really like this track. you took some of the ideas from the WIP thread and tightened it up a bit but I still really hate that tremolo on both lead and the pickin on the left channel. If you listen to it on a set of headphones (if you didn't whist mixing you really should) you'll know what I mean. After listening to it almost twice in a row I literally feel sick - this is a strange psychoacoustic effect by the way, and something you should look into - it's like one of those things if you listen to a sound for an extended period of between 2Hz and 5Hz or something it will make you physically ill lol. One of my mates tried this before....not pleasant hehe. Anyway, enough of that. Also, can I ask you, did you improv that lead guitar in one take? I can notice some clear mistakes that have been there since like your third WIP version.

@ Facelessman: the arrangement was nice I suppose, but everythings just sounds really....washed out or something, some of the synths were strange. I had to listen to it a couple times before I could say, yeh this is a decent piece overall.

@Vaughn: Strange mix, but it works, just about, maybe the intro is just a bit "too" mellow I dunno, it doesn't transition all that well for me, also that lead "ooh aah" synth was abit overused imo. Possibly should've saved it for later in the mix to add some diversity. Extro....Dunno if I like it or not.

****Ok I'll be honest, cause it's been bugging me since yesterday :s sad to say I only really liked a couple of the tracks on this project. Nothing really grabs me and stands out in my head as being Great on this project, my own track included. There seems to be some fundamental problem in most of the tracks that just seems to put me off what would otherwise be some decent tracks, be it Quinn Foxes lo-fi percussion synths which I just can't get around, or Tackle's vocal misdemeanour :p, Rexy's.....well, I hate that Jazz Fusion kinda style: theres really nothing I can do about that, I really dislike the style-I mean no disrespect to you Rexy, just my personal tastes gettin in the way here.

Other low points I thought were Dain's excessive crowd buildup - unneccesary is the word that springs to mind - also, the extreme panning on the drumkit really put me off that track - use headphones to double check your tracks people cmon...

also @ Dain: I think a lot of parts of this song were dragged out a fair bit too much, e.g. the piano/string ensemble in the middle jsut left me waiting for it to get on with it, as a final battle theme there was way too much of a slowdown and loss of pace in the middle which I dont think the track really recovered from, especially when it hits the synth guitar solo...ugh....just, sorry man, if there's one thing I truly hate in techno/electronic music it's synthesized lead guitars Sad

@ corran: I suppose I should mention corran's tracks aswell. Escape Route uses good high quality sounds, well mixed, I'm still a little iffy on the drum solo, but like I mentioned before, I really liked the flute solo, this is the kind of quality I was hoping to see more of on the project overall.
Scrap Metal was a little underwhelming though, pretty straightforward structure, didn't do a lot for me, sounded like some cheesy Ibiza tune in parts techno track with some mellow flute laid over, not a lot done here arrangement wise and is quite true to the original.

@ Rushjet: I respect what he does in making retro-style chiptunes but I think there's a time and a place for chiptunes, and this wasn't one of them - actually that sounded a little arrogant, what I mean to say is, I dont think it fits very well in this album, especially where it is slap bang in the middle of CD2. It jsut feels out of place and I've already take it off the playlist when im listenin thru the project. that said, as a chiptune (and I love listening to old original nsf/gym/spcs - Super Turrican gets a regular spin in Winamp :p) it's a good remix, does the original justice and adds a new spin.

@tumult: same goes for the cave story theme as a chiptune - I like it, just not in this context.
Modulation seems to be like cut into two different tracks, a long drawn out 1 minute intro, and then
another minute of the same thing agai nwith a drumbeat and less ambience, so much more could have been done with this track but again it seems people were afraid to elaborate on the originals all that much. It's a decent track but nothing spectacular in my mind.

@k-wix: just gonna comment on the track for the moment. Mimiga Vibe was one of my faves, but only really cause it's one of the best on the OST itself. This is a great tune, but....I dunno, about halfway through I was wishing something would happen, then at 4:26 you sped it up and I'm almost wishing you hadn't. Mixed feelings on this one, the transition just felt awkward. Overall though this would be one of the few that I'd listen to again.

@ Prophecy: Bass way too loud :/ and I find that synth to be terrible, I hear a lot of people using the same one again n again Sad I like the lead synth playing double time though, interesting. The track jsut cuts out though, sounds to me like you just said "ah fuck it I'm 3 days late already, might aswell jsut get it over n done with...."

@ SinowBeat: all tese tracks sound like random excerpts from different adventure games. nothing really sounds like a final polished final track tbh. More like fills between tracks. You should really have filled out the tracks a lot more, most of them have potential, but meh, by the time they;re starting to go anywhere they're over Sad

@ Quinn Fox: I really don't know where to start. none of the tracks were ad, I did quite like tetrahedron, I think you did that one justice at least apart from the intro, that saw synth was drivin me mad, had to skip on, but I like the flute and that phasing one you use later on. Sadly you return to that old saw again at the end and it jsut....ugh. Too much randomness on the lead, doesn't work well for me.
Huzzah! or Ballrawg as I see you renamed it, was a low point imo. Very repetetive, poor synth choices and the voice sample...not something I would associate with Ballrog tbh, would imagine his voice being much much deeper and...kinda...retarded hehe, you know what I mean.
Taking advantage: Mixed feelings - has a better feel about it than ballrawg, but some of those backing synths are really....crap..for want of a better word, they're just grinding my left ear to shit. Some of them jsut sound insanely distorted - really horrible digital distortion like - and they do not sound good.
Combination Lock I really like though, but for all the wrong reasons hehe. It sounds almost exactly like and old track from the MMORPG Laghaim. The cheap lead xylophone style synth, the choirs, the bass synth, everything sounds exactly like it was from that original tune...just my perception of it.

edit: 5.rar - 0.00MB

http://kwix.shackspace.com/cavest...s/17.QuinnFox-CombinationLock.mp3

lol??? nostalgia heh.

Lastly Overcoats one: The intro was nice, but I still hate that mad synth tom, its all over the plce, stays there for the whole mix and ruins the whole thing for me. That thing in the background set to 10,000 rpm does my head in aswell, sorry man Sad I don't like listening to this at all, despite its nice ideas and interesting leads. Like I said at the start, there are a lot of good tracks here, almost every one of them ruined by some fundamental issue that just makes them a pain to listen to.

@ k-wix again: I found your track order a little jarring in places, especially going from my own track into Facelessman's piece(08-09). It was like, w t bloody fuck???? After I took out facelessman's track it flows pretty nicely from Island of Eden into Vaughn's track. Other places were similar...

At the end of the day though, a lot of effort(I hope) went into putting all of these tracks together, so fair play to everyone who contributed. It didn't quite live up to my expectations, but that's life. Still a few good tracks in there that I'll listen to more than once. Thanks for all the free music Wink

There. That's the basic structure of the song in order start to finish.

Hey, if they're saying we suck, they're still spreading our name. Wink

Haha. *reads*

Hey guys at least my art blows more than the music, so people will concentrate on that more. ^_____^

Seriously though, at least one person said the art was okay/enjoyable, so that makes me feel happy. I mean, it wasn't supposed to be OMG AWESOME!!!1 Just...enjoyable, pleasant to look at.

But if some of them hate my art so much why did they bother to save it and post pictures of it? Cool

And as far as the music, some of the less ignorant people had a couple nice things to say about it.

Wouldn't you guys like to know what HE thinks of it? Very Happy

These people had decent things to say.

"Corran's "Escape Route" is brilliant. I'm definitely downloading the whole thing now.. even though I sort of swore off video game remixes a long time ago."

More E Famous-ness! (the only negative comment was from an "anonymous" btw, surpising...)

Lol, it seems like a lot of people wanted songs that were basically originals re-done with new instruments and stuff....

Oh well, if they don't like what we did, that's fine. There are lots of people who enjoy this, so it was worth it. I guess some people were just confused about what it was that we were doing here.

And I really like the art, especially the stuff for disc 1. Very Happy
