Something is funky with the banners. If I try to save them they show up as "untitled.bmp". This has happened on other sites, but usually only occasionally and not to several pics at the same time.

ok, the whole project should be there I think. get seeding people :p
for those who already have th project and want to seed just tell the torrent to save in the same location you have the project in on your hard disk, just make sure it has the same directory structure as in the torrent. |

| just as a suggestion, this has turned into more of a general discussion of the project than a "what do you think" thread - maybe make another thread? |

LONG POST WARNING
I am seriously loving this!
Thanks to everyone that contributed to creating such a nice product!
(I've been listening to this a bit, and I've started the reviewing from something near the enf of MV. I'm trying to review from my initial impression as that's often the most 'Pure' idea one gets of an image for the first time. )
Mimiga Vibe was fun.
Island of Eden is interesting... The 5min mark had me looking for the ending, but the 6min mark revived my intrest. Don't know why, but it did.
The into to Welcome Home was by far one of the more interesting one's I've heard. In fact, there's nothing about Welcome Home that makes me hesitate to call it sheer brilliance. This is definatly one of may new favorite songs of all time. Facelessman, I'm going to have to check out a lot more of your works.
Doukutstu Dance is another nice piece. The intro and 3:34-end bit happens to furfil one of my musical niches, and the rest of it is a very amusing coverage of one of my favorite themes from DM/CS. Some of the vocal/vcoder work was lovely. Vaughn, nice work!
Tetrahedron is a very beautiful piece! But I have to say, the part brought in a :50 reminded me more than just a little bit of the Level Select from Super Mario World. Eh, Fox? You're kinda inspiring me to follow your tracks.
Shoddy Loch put me on edge... The parts brought up at 1:12 was a bit intoxicating. You caught my attention at 2:24 with it's suddenly bouncy nature. Te return of the old drum pattern at 2:48 was a nice transition. I just have to say, very little of this seemed familliar at all. Though it may be my inobservance.
Decision's intro is very interesting... I like how it's building up at :27.
1:20-end = Gold. I have to say right now:
THIS IS MY FAVORITE OF THIS ENTIRE MIX SET.
Seriously, this is the main thing I remembered from the preview MP3, and the song I was looking most forward to.
Scrap Metal's intro reminds me a bit of a temple. As it progresses, it only get's better! :50 was wonderful. I have to say, a lot of this reminds me of Lava Reef Zone from Sonic 3 & Knuckles (like the melody introduced at 1:04)...
2:08 was nice. Everytime you bring back the percussion, you rearouse my full intrest in this.
Almost There... If I hadn't waited for :26's intro, I would have completely skipped over this for some time.
But this mix is seriously catchy. This is another one of those songs I'm bumping to the upper portion of my playlist.
Cave Story- Tumult, you almost made me laugh! XD I wasn't expecting it to be a mix of this kind. But it was very nice. But this one didn't seem to change too much from the original. I'd probably recignize the diffrence if I played them one after another, but I'll do it later.
Conbination Lock - I'm lost for words... It's another one of those things I remember very distinctly from the previes a bit back. It's a nice creepy atmosphere of impending trouble you've got going here. I like more than anything how you maintained that feel throughout the entire piece.
Orange Sunset is another mellow pice that I find quit calming. The change at 1:20 was welcome when I got to it.
A Hero's Resting Place - Another one of those pieces I remember well when I heard it on the preview... Unsettling, and it does so in a very nice manner. I rather lack the words to decribe my opinion of this accurately.
Ball of Ballos 7 Minutes!? Impress me Tackle.
:44 - Nice addition
lots of change from there to 1:20.
1:20 being my favorite part of this entire mix! It's not seriously shocking, but this is definately something I'm going to listen to more than twenty times.
I just recignize I heard this on the preview too.
3:30 sounded less and less interesting up to...
4:00 Which was another nice part of the mix. I enjoy this part not nearly as much as 1:20, but a good amount.
4:53 is sort of a throwback to the sound of 3:30. Sounds a bit more like noise than music to me.
5:33 is interesting again. The vocals added in are interesting as well, but I can not understand them. (don't tell me what they are, because that tends to ruin a lot of songs for me.)
All in all, I though this was pretty good, but there's so much to it... Anyway, I think you did good Tackle
Smoothie Brace is relaxing and soothing... I enjoy it a lot. I reminds me a bit of another game Pixel had worked on that I can't remember at the moment. (it's underwater, and you move around by shooting bubbles and stuff.) I really like how you work with those really subtle sounds in the BG and shift them from side to side with out it becoming a distraction.
A REALLY high pitch a 4:26/7 hurt my left ear though. :/ Good song.
Holy Crap, DJ Dain! a single 8 minute Mix!? I'm interested in how this is going to turn out.
Interesting intro so far...
I can really feel it building up torward the 1 minute mark.
As it progresses, the way it shifts from left to right like that actually makes me a feel a bit like I'm inside of the bonus stage tube of Sonic Heroes. (again) To be honest, it kinda distracts me from succesfully typing at all while listening to it.
But I really love how you mixed this. It's more than just interesting. 2:50 ish changes are very nice. I really love what you did with the strings around 3:20-4:05
4:50 caught my attention with the change, but didn't really take me to a wowing pount with the build from that.
The return of the string at 6:35 was a welcome one for me. And I like what you did with the mix from that point on out.
Otaku, I really enjoyed the art! =P (as well as those from the other contributers.)
And nice ending credits K-wix.
(If you do decide to get a disc 3 together, send me some kind of notification. Like an e-mail or something...)
Once again, I'd like to say thanks to you all for making this project! It was definately worth the listen! _________________ If you are able to draw something, then draw it already!

One thing... Facelessman, is it possible for you to give me the project files (or maybe a midi or something) of Welcome Home? I just want to see what an orchestrated song looks like (I'm really bad at making them myself.) _________________ I'm such a noob... |

I can send you a midi or the Finale file. (which can be viewed using the free Finale Notepad program)
Which would you like?
travisuped - thanks for the compliments! You can't really listen to any of my other works, unfortunately, with VGMix being down. But I'm working on a google site, and I'll be putting my best stuff on there.
Now I'm going to download and play Cave Story... Then, and only then, I'll listen to the project...I really should have played it earlier, but...I was busy! |

Still going through the music, but I gotta say it right here, Pulse/Modulation blew me away. The string sound like an erhu to me.
Oh yes oh yes oh yes <3 |

@Facelessman: Midi please.
@Everyone else: Is it just my slow computer, or do some of these songs play slowly (well, they pause every few seconds.)? It seems that all the good songs are too complicated to play on this lousy PC. Any way to fix that (besides buying some faster hardware for this computer)? _________________ I'm such a noob... |

After listening to the other tracks myself, I must say I am really impressed with the overall quality and diversity of these arrangements! Great job to all the other participants!
And Genius: are you downloading them or streaming them? Sounds like streaming. Try right-clicking and saving them maybe. _________________ My arrangements, original compositions, and recital recordings:

Nope, they're on my computer already. Actually i think its Windows Media Player's fault. It seems fine in other programs (just Audacity, the only other program capable of playing songs currently installed on my computer that has a shortcut on my desktop...)
Ohh, i love the Ball of Ballos one... Very nice... _________________ I'm such a noob... |

if anybody wants to know the lyrics for ball of ballos, and where they're from, check here:
http://www.karlmacklin.com/lyrics.txt
in other words, it's nothing I wrote, it doesn't have to do with the original track running hell or cave story itself.. it only connects where it matters.. musically! |

And by the way, that mix totally rocked! I was pleasantly surprised to hear it.
